Public Library Of New London Starts "Food For Fines" Month

Late fees will be waived with donation of non-perishable food item

A little late returning that book or movie to the ? As long as you have a bit of food to donate, the librarians are willing to cut you a break.

The library begins its "Food For Fines" program today and will continue it through Sept. 29. During this period, the donation of one non-perishable unexpired food item will waive an overdue fine. The offer does not apply to lost or damaged items.

The promotion is being done in conjunction with National Library Card Month and all donations will go to the . According to the library website, the center is specfically requesting canned meat or fish, canned soup, peanut butter, and whole grain cereal.
