Daily Five: Phasing Out The Daily Five

Five, er, four things to know for April 30

1. The Daily Five has been part of the New London Patch since it began in December of 2010, but we’ll be phasing it out over the course of this week (thus the absence of a weather forecast today to make this more of a Daily Four). I’ll still be doing short posts to let readers know about interesting items going on around the city and features of the site, but on Friday the organized Daily Five will officially be down to an item of note posted to a relevant section.

I’m going to see how this new system works in the next few weeks. If you find yourself missing the Daily Five or have suggestions on things that could use a bump-up as a daily item, don’t hesitate to let me know.

2. As for general feedback, we want to include readers in the redesign. What do you love about the new New London Patch? What do wish it had? Fill out this form or click on “What do you think of the New Patch?” at the bottom left of the home page to let us know.

3. Tired of all those Kathleen Mitchell on the Opinion boards? Wouldn't you know it, you too can post your own opinions there. Share your thoughts on local, state, federal, or global issues on this section of the site.

4. It’s the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Camerón, a major event in the history of the French Foreign Legion. A force of 65 soldiers in the French Foreign Legion made a defensive stand against 2,000 to 3,000 Mexican troops after being attacked while guarding a convoy; the battle ultimately ended with the Legion’s force entirely killed or captured.
