New London Tube: Celebration Of Lights And Song

New London Main Street's annual holiday festival returns to Parade Plaza

I can always count on Corey Watford, of Home Brew TV News, to contribute photos from the scenes of emergencies around town. I formerly featured his video of a Tinker Court fire in this column, and he added several images of a Montauk Ave. house fire to the article. But he's got to spend time with his family as well, so it's not all fires and car accidents on his YouTube channel.

Watford recently added this video of scenes from the Celebration of Lights and Song, held on Dec. 8. It includes the singing of "Silent Night" and other musical performances as well as skaters at the rink, organizations set up in tents, and the scene right after the tree lighting.

The celebration is organized by New London Main Street for the holiday season. This year there were suggestions that it might not happen due to a tight budget year, but organizers worked to put together a scaled-back event that would still be enjoyable for residents while not hitting the coffers quite so hard.
