New London Tube: Asphalt Orchestra At The Big Picture

Brass band regales crowd before New London Main Street photo shoot

OK, fair warning: if you're the kind of person who doesn't like shaky cam work, you might just want to play this one as audio in the background. Otherwise, enjoy this scene from the fifth annual event put on by !

Seth Bendfelt took this 15-minute video of the Asphalt Orchestra performing on to provide a little entertainment before the snapshot was taken. The 12-piece street band plays a few songs and nicely demonstrates one of the personalities the group's website claims to have: "outdoor guerrilla musical force."

Part of the fun of the Big Picture is always looking at the result and seeing who you can pick out. New London is pretty tight-knit, and no doubt you'll recognize a lot of people in this video. The kids seem to be a class from the , and you can see Conn College's camel mascot as well as some performers from The Nutcracker. Jack Chaplin of gets a brief spotlight at the 8:06 mark. The person darting around taking pictures of the band is , the Big Picture photographer himself. And the person Bendfelt says hello to at 5:49 is Adam Campos ( author), whose own photography work you can now see at .

You can check out the Big Picture's final result here.

The mayor and council president will lie and cheat to protect the mayor's unqualified and dishonestRead More people. The council and the council leadership is supposed to act as a check and balance in this new form of government. Mr. Smith is one of those dishonest people. It is sad that this person can be so dishonest and that the so called leaders in the community back the dishonest person rather than standing up for the taxpayers and people that really do live here and pay taxes. As a finance director Mr. Smith knows the importance of the proper tax town for vehicles, so he cannot claim ignorance. Is he is breaking the law because the taxes in Windham are lower or because he truly lives in Windham?
