New London Tube: 2012 Sailfest Fireworks

New London doesn't have a fireworks display for the Fourth of July, but it seemed like an appropriate New London Tube for the holiday would be a reminder that one of the biggest fireworks displays in the state is coming to our city in just over a week.

This video shows about 10 minutes of the fireworks display at the OpSail 2012 event, which merged with Sailfest for a single event last year. The view is from Fort Trumbull, looking over the Coast Guard barque Eagle and the visiting Brazilian ship Cisne Blanco

The description of the video mentions how the display is synced to the radio, and indeed the background music includes everything from "Sweet Caroline" to the Star Wars theme. The music can be heard on 100.9 Roxy FM, WCTY 97.7, and 98.7 Classic Hits.

Sailfest will be in New London from July 12-14. The fireworks go up from a Thames River barge at 9 p.m. on July 13.
