New London Storm Central: Cancellations, Closings, Parking Ban

Here's how the storm is affecting life in New London. If you know of additional cancellations, closings, or events that have been postponed, please add them in the comments.

The promised storm is bringing heavy snow that will continue overnight, depositing up to about a foot when all is said and done. Gov. Dannel Malloy has dismissed all state workers early and activated the state's Emergency Operations Center.  The state's emergency shelter 211 system is in effect. People in need of emergency shelter should call 211 for assistance. 

Here's how the storm is affecting life in New London so far. If you know of additional cancellations, please post them in the comments.

  • A parking ban is in effect for the City of New London
  • New London Public Library closed at 3 p.m.
  • The New London City Council Finance Committee meeting originally scheduled for 5 p.m. and the City Council's meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. have been postponed until Wednesday, Jan. 22.  
  • Due to road conditions, sanitation crews were pulled off their routes on Tuesday and there may be delays with garbage pickups tomorrow.
  • New London Adult & Continuing Education has cancelled all evening classes. 
  • The Drop-In Learning Center is closed this evening. 
  • New London Park and Recreation Department has cancelled all evening activities.
  • New London Schools dismissed early Tuesday. There are no after school activities. No word yet about whether schools will be open, open late, or closed on Wednesday. 
  • The Color of Justice community forum has been rescheduled from Jan. 22 to Jan. 30.
