Mystic Aquarium Penguins Visiting Parade Plaza Rink On Saturday

Birds visiting New London attraction for an hour this Saturday

Some of Mystic Aquarium's African penguins will take to the synthetic ice on Saturday when they visit the Rink at Parade Plaza.

New London Main Street has announced that the penguins will be at the rink from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The aquarium has 25 birds in its Roger Tory Peterson Penguin Exhibit.

The rink's regular hours run from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under, while skate rental is $4.

I hope the Penguins don't get stuck to the sugar water compound that makes "iceless skating," possible. I wonder how much New London Main Street and the City will lose on this stupidity this year? We never did get an honest accounting of revenues versus costs last year.

I wonder how much New London loses on your stupidity alone. Fail or succeed the skating rink is an honest attempt to enliven downtown. What have you proposed as an alternative?
