Monday Challenge: Where In New London Is This Memorial?

For the past several months, Monday afternoons have been reserved for the New London Sports Roundup. Although there are still a number of sports activities going on during the summer (see the last column for information on road races, sailing events, and more happening from June through August), the roundup is on hiatus until the resumption of high school and college sports this fall.

During that time, the sports roundup will be replaced by the Monday Challenge. Whether it's identifying the spot in the image or telling more about the story behind it, readers are invited to share their knowledge. The answer will be given the following week. To start, here's a New London memorial that's a little harder to find than the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. Where in the city is it, and what do you know about it? The answer will be posted on the afternoon of June 24.
