Families are invited to check out a series of activities put on by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection at this weekend.
The summer festival will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as part of DEEP's "No Child Left Inside" initiative. Launched in 2006, these events seek to introduce children to the natural world.
Fishing poles and bait will be available for use at the park's fishing pier. Other activities include crabbing, a fish and bait matching game, a touch tank, a lobster pot maze, and educational activities on fish identification and fish catching techniques. Educators and biologists from DEEP's Connecticut Aquatic Resource Education will also attend to assist with activities and answer questions.
