eBay Tuesday: Neon "I Love New London"

I kind of had to wonder if SignProduct Advanced Advertising Product Professionals is going to deplete the planet's supply of inert gases. They specialize in advertising products, mostly neon signs, and their eBay store lists nearly a quarter of a million items. It does look like it's a model that's offered and not created until an order is placed, though, so I guess neon's other uses (like cryogenic refrigeration) are safe.

Among the bar signs for billiards and tattoos and man caves, you can find quite a few showing pride in one's town or city. It should be no surprise, then, that this "I Love New London" sign is joined by seven others for New Londons in other states. So if you think our New London is really sweet but not the kind of city you want to commit to, you can see what the other New Londons have to offer.

The other communities sharing our name among the designs are in Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, and Wisconsin. Though I may someday do a bit of a profile on some of our doppelgangers, I'll admit I have much less to work with on this listing - since I traditionally dig into the history of an item - and thought I'd share some of the things I found through some quick searching. The tiny town in Texas has less than 1,000 people and a tragic history, remaining the site of the worst school disaster in United States history. A natural gas explosion in March of 1937 killed at least 298 students and faculty there. The town in Wisconsin is the home base for a Western stunt show known as "Whips, Garters, and Guns." And it seems local musician Chris Castle spent some of his early life in another New London, namely the one in Ohio.
