Eagle Open For Public Tours While At New London City Pier

The Coast Guard barque Eagle will be at a downtown dock for the next three weeks, and it will be open for public tours during that time.

The tall ship, which is normally located at Fort Trumbull and only accessible from the Coast Guard station, recently returned from a training sail and moored at City Pier adjacent to Union Station. Plans for the National Coast Guard Museum to be located on the New London waterfront include the possibility of having the Eagle at this site.

While at City Pier, the ship will be open to self-guided tours. According to the Eagle's Facebook page, these will be open from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., unless the crew is conducting maintenance or training.

The Eagle will depart on May 11 for third class cadet training. The schedule calls for the ship to visit ports in the Caribbean and Canada.
