Daily Five: Senate Debate, Alicia Patterson, City Council

Five things to know for October 15

1. Another warm day, although it's mostly cloudy with a good chance of showers or a thunderstorm in the evening. Sunrise is 7:01 a.m., sunset is 6:09 p.m.

2. The City Council meets tonight at 7 p.m. at City Hall. The agenda includes a recognition of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, proposed upgrades to the Lake Konomoc pump station, and a memo from the New London Police Union on staffing levels. That meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. and includes discussion of road paving projects, unanticipated revenues from federally seized assets, and repairs at Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School.

3. Or you could get to the Garde Arts Center at 7 p.m. (or a little earlier to secure a seat) and watch the debate between Senate candidates Linda McMahon and Chris Murphy. I might be attending, but in the words of Bartleby the Scrivener “I would prefer not to.”
