Five things to know for February 7

1. A blizzard is on its way, with the National Weather Service predicting a chance of snow tonight with a wintry mix on Friday turning to heavy snow on Saturday. Mostly sunny during the day with clouds rolling in later on, with temperatures between 26 degrees and 30 degrees. Sunrise is 6:53 a.m., sunset is 5:13 p.m.

2. School budget discussions continue tonight when the Board of Education’s Finance and Audit Committee meets. This discussion starts at 6 p.m. on the third floor conference room of the Science and Technology Magnet High School.

3. An opening reception for Jill Harrington’s display of paintings will run from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Gallery at Firehouse Square. Stop in to meet the artist and check out some of her work.
