Daily Five: Holiday Show, Ogoni Day, Music

Five things to know for January 4

1. Sunny and warmer today, with the high temperature thawing things out at 36 degrees. The overnight low is 27 degrees. The sun comes up at 7:15 a.m. and sets at 4:32 p.m.

2. Studio 33 has let us know on the events page that their holiday art exhibit is going to be taken down on Jan. 12. Be sure to check it out before then.

3. The Senior Center has a regular bingo game going on today at 10 a.m. for residents ages 55 and older. Fifty cents to play.

4. It’s a more modest week for music coming up, but there are still a few shows to check out. See who’s playing when The Sounds of New London posts at 5 p.m., as it does every Friday.

5. Today is Ogoni Day, a celebration of the ethnic minority in Nigeria put on by the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People. The movement seeks self-determination and the protection of the cultural and environmental rights of the population.
