Daily Five: For Adam's Sake, Opinions Board, China-Japan Peace

Five things to know for April 28

1. Mostly sunny today with a high of 59 degrees. Sunrise is 5:50 a.m., sunset is 7:43 p.m.

2. For Adam’s Sake: A Family Saga in Colonial New England hits the bookshelves today. This book by historian Allegra di Bonaventura takes a look at slavery and family in colonial New England, and the launch features a lecture and book signing. This begins at 2 p.m. at the Public Library of New London.

3. You get two chances to check out the Broadway musical Hair today at the Garde Arts Center. The first performance hits the stage at 3 p.m., the second at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $60.

4. The Skrimshander Articles is currently being posted in the Opinion board, where any resident is welcomed to weigh in on issues in down or on the national stage. As always, we just ask that you be respectful.

5. Although the war between China and Japan that started in 1937 concluded with Japan’s surrender during World War II in 1945, the state of war between the nations did not cease until this day in 1952. The Treaty of Tapei settled a number of issues, including territorial and fishing claims.
