Daily Five: Food For Thought, Winthrop School Open House, Figure Skating

2. Winthrop Elementary School has an open house today on its STEM magnet programs. This starts at 2 p.m.

3. a discussion on food access and security, takes place at 5:30 p.m. tonight at the Public Library of New London. Speakers include Arthur Lerner, director of FRESH New London, and Merry Byrne, Connecticut College professor.

4. It’s getting closer to Easter, and we’re inviting users to show off their creative use of candy with a Peeps diorama contest. Details will be posted this morning.

5. New Haven was home to another “first” on this day nearly 100 years ago. The premiere use of the “international style”—the more modern type of ballet skating still used today—in a national championship took place on this day in 1914.
