Custom House Plans Painting Projects

New London Harbor Light, museum interior to be spruced up

The Custom House Maritime Museum is planning two painting projects this year to improve the appearance of both the New London Harbor Light and museum interior.

The museum plans to repaint the exterior of the historic Pequot Ave. lighthouse, a job which will require professional painters and is estimated to cost $100,000.

The second project will repaint the interior walls throughout the museum. This can be done through volunteer efforts, and anyone interested in contributing to the effort can e-mail nlmaritimedirector@gmail.com.

Residents can also contact the museum to make donations to the Lighthouse Restoration Fund. All money donated to this fund will go toward the restoration of the Harbor Light, over which the New London Maritime Society has stewardship.
