Colleges Hold 9/11 Memorial Events For Students, Public

Connecticut College and Mitchell College schedule Sunday services

and will offer services on Sunday recognizing the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The events are open to the public unless otherwise noted.

At Connecticut College, a "Remembering 9/11" program of reflection and remembrance will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Harkness Chapel. The chapel's bells will toll in honor of the lives lost in the attacks, and the chapel will be open to visitors throughout the day.

At 7:30 p.m., Professor Alex Hybel will lead a discussion on 9/11 and its impact on the world over the past 10 years. This will take place in the Windham Common Room and is open to students only.

Mitchell College will hold a candlelight vigil, beginning at 8:30 p.m., on the lawn of Michael's Dairy; candles will be provided. The school will also hold a tribute to the victims of the attacks during the home sports games scheduled for today.

Students, faculty members, and campus staff at Mitchell may visit a special reflection room in the Clarke Center Dining Hall through Wednesday. Visitors may share memories or reflections or quietly honor those who died on 9/11.
