Coast Guard Barque Eagle Bids Farewell Until August

After some time docked at City Pier, the Coast Guard barque Eagle set sail down the Thames River on a rainy Sunday morning. The tall ship is deploying on its regular training mission for third class cadets and will be visiting ports in the Caribbean and Canada.

Third class cadets will be sailing until July 27. Fourth class cadets will take over at that point, when the ship is in Boston, and sail to Portsmouth, N.H., before returning to New London on Aug. 9.

The Eagle will sail again in September for an officer candidate school deployment.
