Charles W. Morgan Open to the Public

The historic whaling ship will be fitted during weekdays, open on weekends.

The historic Charles W. Morgan whaling ship will be available for public viewing today and tomorrow in New London. The ship will be outfitted with a crew and some new equipment while docked in New London.

The Charles W. Morgan is the last ship afloat from America's whaling fleet, which roamed the globe from the mid-1800s until the early 1900s.

The Morgan's stop in New London is a part of a summer-long tour of historic New England seaports. "Where once the Morgan’s cargo was whale oil and baleen, today her cargo is knowledge," writes Mystic Seaport.
