Broomball League Starting Up At Parade Plaza Rink

New London Main Street organizing group to play hockey-like game this winter

New London Main Street is looking for interested adults to join a broomball league starting up at the Rink at Parade Plaza.

The sport is similar to ice hockey, but players wear shoes instead of skates and use a ball instead of a puck. Players also use a broom-shaped stick and the sport is no-contact.

The league will play games every Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., starting on Jan. 15. The league will play for seven weeks, including two weeks of playoff games. Teams may include up to 10 players.

The cost to join the league is $50, which covers use of the rink and equipment. The league is open to players ages 21 and up.

For more information on the league, contact Sean Murray, marketing and program development director at New London Main Street, at 860-941-5822 or at murray@newlondonmainstreet.org. Registration should be done at the rink or by contacting rink manager Danielle Benson at 860-910-7787.
