Big Papi Celebrates Birthday at Mohegan Sun

18 guests ate well — very well — at Ballo Italian Restaurant and serenaded the World Series MVP and longtime slugger of the Boston Red Sox.

David Ortiz, after his searing World Series performance and his decade-plus of offensive dominance at Fenway Park, is very much on top of the world right now.

And last Friday night, Nov. 15, Big Papi celebrated his birthday (which was Monday, Nov. 18) with 18 guests at Ballo Italian Restaurant at Mohegan Sun.

And those guests, apparently, ate — and drank — very well.

Representatives of the Sun say the night started with toasts of Johnnie Walker Blue and Patron Grand Platinum Tuscaritas, then Ortiz "gave a heartfelt speech of gratitude."

The guests then enjoyed calamari, homemade ricotta ravioli, neopolitan pizzas and Ballo's famous Mac 'N' Cheese made tableside.

The night ended with a "long, soulful" group rendition of "Happy Birthday."

No word on whether the group hit the gaming floor.
