Marty Olsen announces candidacy for City Council

I am seeking the Republican nomination for City Council. Our new government is not functioning as envisioned. The level of drama, chaos and low morale is damaging the city. Basic services, such as but not limited to garbage collection, have become inconsistent. Our police department staffing has been reduced by a third and public safety compromised. The council has been overrun by the new administration and there is no check and balance as required by the City Charter. For this new government to work, the charter needs to be reopened and controls placed and tightened where necessary. Absolute and/or unlimited power is not what New Londoners expected or wanted with our change in government. New London needs councilors strong enough to stand up and be counted.
