Dime Foundation Awards a $3,500 Grant to the Jonnycake Center of Westerly

Dime Bank Foundation has awarded a $3,500 grant to the Jonnycake Center of Westerly to help fund their Emergency Food Assistance Program. The objective of the program is to provide local residents with a week’s worth of food every thirty days to ensure no local resident goes without food. The food program is unique in that the Center is able to provide a wide-range of non-perishable food items as well as produce, meats, and dairy products. 

The Jonnycake Center operates a food pantry, a retail store, and a social services office, all of which are staffed by employees and volunteers. They provide food, clothing, household goods and furniture, and emergency financial assistance to qualifying clients who need help with basic needs such as rent, utilities, prescription medicine, and assistance obtaining educational goals.
