The is asking residents to be aware of multiple scams that have been occurring in the city.
Capt. Steve Crowley said residents have been receiving phone calls as well as door-to-door solicitation offering fake products and services. These have included roof repair, chimney sweeping, claims of cash rewards, people saying they are bank representatives who need to update information, and requests for cash advances or money.
Crowley said residents should not give out personal information, send strangers money, conduct unsolicited business over the phone, or allow door-to-door solicitors into their homes. He said there is a city ordinance prohibiting door-to-door solicitation without a permit, and that residents should report such people to the police.
