While driving his daughter to school recently, David Peters of New London made a quick stop to buy a bag of chips for her lunch as his fiancé earlier suggested. “When we got to the store, I cashed in a winning ‘$200,000 High Stakes Casino’ ticket and purchased another,” Peters told Lottery officials. “When I scratched it, and saw I had a number match, I thought I won $200. Then I read underneath the prize amount…and saw it was for $200,000!”
After dropping his daughter off at school, Peters drove straight to CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill where he accepted a prize check for $136,606 (value after taxes). “I’m going to pay some bills and put the rest away for a rainy day,” Peters said.
The overall odds of winning a prize in $200,000 High Stakes Casino are 1 in 3.54. Of the 4 top prizes in the game; 3 remain to be claimed.
For selling Peters his $200,000 top prize winning ticket, One Stop Convenience, located at 720 Norwich Road in Plainfield, will receive a $2,000 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
