New London Should show its best side to the US NAVY

The US Navy has in the past been a major factor in New Londons' history and economy. What you may not know is the Submarine Base initial purchase was funded by the City.

Did you know?  The Submarine Base got its beginning as a navy yard and storage depot on April 11, 1868.  The state of Connecticut and its southeastern cities and towns had donated land along the Thames River to the Navy for the establishment of a base. It was the New Londons' City Council that appropriated $10,000 to purchase the land that was donated. Hence, that is why the U.S. Naval Submarine Base is often referred to as New London Submarine Base.

But why isn't there more of a Navy presence in New London?  Why don't we openly welcome the Navy to our city? That's what this blog hopes to learn.
