Patch Readers: Tony D's Most Romantic Restaurant In New London, Waterford
A total of 128 votes cast in our "food fight" between six restaurants
If you were waiting for the result of this poll to make a reservation for Valentine's Day, well...good luck, buddy. When we asked readers to nominate the most romantic restaurants in New London and Waterford for this latest "food fight," people zeroed in on only six locations; seating may be getting a little scarce for Tuesday. When these places were put together in a recent poll, one got a clear lead. And the winner is...
Tony D's of New London!
This Huntington Street restaurant earned 41 votes out of 128 cast, or 32 percent. Once again, the next pair of contenders started to gain on the leader but couldn't quite catch up. Dev's On Bank Street, lauded by readers for its fireplaces and friendly staff, had 27 votes (21 percent) while On The Waterfront, noted for its candlelight and views, earned 25 votes (20 percent). Bringing up the rear were Caffe NV with 14 votes (11 percent), Filomena's with 11 votes (9 percent), and Chaplin's with 10 votes (8 percent).
According to the Tony D's website, there are three dining rooms along with a separate bar area offering live music on the weekends. The recipes for the signature Italian dishes have been passed down through the D'Angelo family. Oh, and then there's the Facebook page, where they upload pictures of dishes and desserts to make sure your stomach rumbles whenever you visit.
Diane Sullivan commented, "All the restaurants entered in your contest are good restaurants for food but if you're looking for a restaurant for romance for Valentines Day it's Tony D's. His dining room is absolutely beautiful and elegant with very good food." A person with the user name Helen wrote about the restaurant, "Even when it's busy there, it seems intimate."
Congratulations to Tony D's and all the nominees!

Don't you think that the picture taken of the entrance to Tony's would have been much better if they shot the Huntington Street main entrance rather than the entrance from the back parking lot? It's my favorite place to eat in the area!
