Mitchell Hosts STEM Expo On Friday

Seventh grade girls from region, as well as teachers, to learn more about education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics

Mitchell College will host an all-day expo on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education Friday for visiting seventh-grade teachers and students.

The event will run from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the college campus. Girls from Norwich, Ledyard, Stonington and Mystic schools will visit the workshops designed to promote STEM education and careers. The event also aims to develop innovative teaching methods in schools and encourage gender equality in the classroom.

The Connecticut Women's Education and Legal Fund's Generating Girls' Opportunities initiative, which aims to engage girls in educational opportunities, is collaborating in the expo. The workshops will be run by professors and students from various locations, including Mitchell College and the STEM coach from the Eastern Workforce Investment Board.
